Dear Fellow Western Region Members:

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and say thank you for electing me president. My name is Jeff Uhrlaub and I am lucky enough to live in Colorado. I have been a member of Centennial Schutzhund Club for over 15 years and was president for the past 10. I just gave that up in order to have time to devote to this position as president of the WKG.

The standard line everyone hears from somebody running for office is that they want to give something back to the sport. It can sound a little trite and worn out but really is the truth. I can only speak for myself in terms of how this sport drastically changed my whole life (for the better) but I can say that everyone who ran for office in this election, whether they won or not, all did it because they believe in the organization as well as the sport and were sincerely interested in contributing something to help it prosper and grow. I want to thank all of those people for caring enough to get involved.

I want to thank all the new members of the board, Jennifer Reid as Vice President, Ted Hartman as O.F.S. and Becky Disner as the new Treasurer. Ann Thomas has graciously agreed to stay on as secretary for one term. I also want to thank Ray Reid, Mac McClellan and JoAnne Rowles for the great work they have done the last few years.

Over the years, I have met a lot of you in the region but there are still quite a few I have yet to meet. Hopefully I will get the chance to do that over the next couple years. I want to do the best job I can to represent all of you and our organization as a whole. Please let me know your concerns and interests, as well as things you would like to see the region do.

WKG Regional Championship

Olympus SchH Club in Salt Lake City, UT is hosting the Regional Championship this year. The dates are Oct 3-4, 2009. Their central location in the region will hopefully make it possible for a great turn out. Check back for details in the near future.
